BARN

The restoration and re-use of the redundant and dilapidated barn will retain, where possible, the essence of the former agricultural past of the site and structures. Overtly residential features will be avoided to the exterior, and a scheme has been devised that needs no new door openings introduced into the building and only two new window openings.

The intention is to preserve the historic quality of the barn, to remove detrimental elements and to enhance it through the introduction of carefully considered material choices and modest detailing, with the ultimate aim of creating a unique family home that exists within a restored historic timber framed structure.

The proposed material palette for the barn and rebuilt cattle shed section has been very carefully considered and developed. The project has now received planning permission.
